Natural cleaning tips for my household appliances
(ALMOST) « SELF-CLEANING » MICROWAVE
This is an infallible yet easy trick. Place a bowl with 15cl of water + 15cl of white vinegar + 4 to 5 drops of lemon essential oil (or basil essential oil) and heat for 5 minutes at maximum power. Let the steam act for 5 minutes and then wipe with a sponge.
CLEANING MY OVEN
Clean it with a sponge soaked in a mixture of liquid black soap, a bit of baking soda and elbow grease! You can also use the oven's pyrolytic self-cleaning function before cleaning it with this blend and it will shine like new!
DESCALING MY WASHING MACHINE
A quite simple trick against bad smells and for a more effective washing: Fill the detergent drawer with white vinegar and run a 60° cycle.
CLEANING UP MY CMV (CONTINUOUS MANDATORY VENTILATION)
Forgetting to clean your ventilation grills means letting dust build-up. As a result, the system becomes clogged, ages faster as it becomes saturated, and becomes less efficient, which increases the risk of moisture and mould. To prevent this, turn off the power, remove the air vents and clean (ideally with homemade dish soap) the ventilation grills, leaving them to soak first and then degrease them. In the meantime, remove the dust inside the fan with a dry rag or vacuum cleaner. Finally, have the CMV checked by a professional every 4 or 5 years.
