We guarantee that our formulas are preservative-free¹, paraben-free, phenoxyethanol-free, P.E.G.-free, colouring-free, and contain no GMOs, no animal raw materials² or petrochemicals, no synthetic perfume, no environmentally harmful propellant, no plastic microbeads, no dimethicone, no silicone, no phthalate, and they never will.

The PURE ORIGIN® Guarantee
Our essential oils, vegetable oils and our hydrolats meet the highest quality criteria.
Our aromatic ingredients (essential oils, hydrolats and aromatic extracts) are 100% pure and natural and obtained by physical processes that comply with the international standard ISO 9235.
Our essential oils are:
100% pure: i.e. not reconstituted, not mixed with oils close to or of low extraction, or other substances such as alcohol and vegetable oils.
100% natural: i.e. not denatured, and obtained without any solvent, by simple steam distillation or by mechanical expression.
100% total: i.e. containing all the active ingredients/aromatics.
100% integral: not discoloured, not rectified*, not peroxidised, not deterpenated, not reconstituted.
EOBBD (Essential Oil Botanically and
Biochemically Defined): this quality criterion guarantees the botanical and biochemical identification of each essential oil**.
*With the exception, for example, of organic Bergamot essential oil (rectified to eliminate furocoumarins, which are phototoxic)
** In some cases two essential oils from a plant belonging to the same species may have different majority compositions depending on their production region, and therefore different properties
Each batch of essential oil selected by Puressentiel is subjected to organoleptic and physico-chemical analyses and gas chromatography in order to identify its precise composition in biochemical molecules and to validate the conformity of its composition with the biochemical specificities laid down by our specifications and those of the various regulations in force.
From the farmer's field to the finished product, a Puressentiel essential oil has undergone at least 4 quality controls, carried out both internally and by independent approved laboratories.
Our essential oils are also :
Non-discoloured: our essential oils are never discoloured with solvents and then re-dyed.
Non-peroxidised: that is, not intentionally oxidised. Oxidation can occur after exposure to light or open air, both our essential oils and vegetable oils are controlled and stored in a
way that limits this oxidation: amber glass, well-sealed bottles, storage protected from light.
Non-rectified*: a rectified essential oil is an essential oil that has undergone fractional distillation to remove certain constituents or to modify its content.
Non-deterpenated: a deterpenated essential oil is an essential oil that has been partially or totally deprived of monoterpenic hydrocarbons.
Non-reconstituted: a reconstituted essential oil is mixed with one or more low extraction essential oil.
*With the exception, for example, of organic Bergamot essential oil (rectified to eliminate furocoumarins, which are phototoxic).
OUR VEGETABLE OILS:
100% pure: i.e. not reconstituted, not mixed with oils close to or of low extraction, or other substances such as alcohol.
100% natural: i.e. not denatured, and obtained without any solvent, by simple steam distillation or by mechanical expression.
100% total: i.e. containing all the active ingredients.
Non-discoloured: our vegetable oils are never discoloured with solvents and then re-dyed.
Obtained by first cold pressing or maceration: to preserve all of their active ingredients, our vegetable oils are obtained by first cold pressing of fruit seeds (hemp, nigella, castor, rose hip, jojoba, calophylla), kernels (argan, sweet almond), stone (apricot), seed (prickly pear), nut (macadamia), almond (shea) or fruit pulp (coconut). Others are obtained by maceration (infusion) of the flower in first cold-pressing, olive (St John's Wort) or sunflower (arnica). And, they of course do not contain any added fragrance, colouring or preservatives.

As aqueous media are, by definition, difficult to preserve, Puressentiel has developed a unique, exclusive and innovative plant-based preservation system which uses no chemical preservatives, even those authorised in organic farming. Hydraqua® technology allows us to protect the integrity of the properties of our hydrolats, which are loaded with aromatic molecules, maintaining the quality of the raw materials used to make them.
THE PURE QUALITY CHARTER: THE GUARANTEE OF PURE, SAFE AND EFFECTIVE PRODUCTS
At Puressentiel, we have set up our own quality charter. Compliance with this "Pure Quality" Charter, which applies from the cultivation and harvesting of the plant raw materials, through to the delivery of the finished products across the world, enables us to guarantee our users the quality of our formulas and their conformity. This ensures that our products are safe and easy to use, for the natural and effective treatment of the everyday ailments of the whole family.
This Charter naturally includes the "official" quality standards specific to each type of product, and often complements them with even more rigorous criteria specific to our company philosophy.
Puressentiel selects its suppliers according to their ability to guarantee total traceability throughout the chain. Compliance with their commitments is ensured by accreditation and control audits.
We have set up a complete control process inclusive of raw materials, packaging, finished products and their transport to our logistics platform.
Appearance, colour, odour and density, alongside compliance with defined biochemical specifications, and also content, labelling and sealing, are just some of the elements controlled by us in order to guarantee complete traceability from the field to your home.
COMPULSORY RESPONSIBLE SOURCING
In 2023, Puressentiel sourced more than 350 tonnes of essential oils, vegetable oils, hydrosols, and active ingredients from 41 countries around the world — all sustainably and responsibly sourced, with full respect for ecosystems.
This means:
- Minimizing the environmental impact of raw material purchases: local sourcing, limiting environmental pressure, maximizing purchases within France and Europe, and prioritizing low-carbon transport;
- Committing long-term to our partners by establishing very long-term contracts with our raw material suppliers;
- Sourcing directly from producers whenever purchase volumes allow, thereby reducing intermediaries, as well as transport and repackaging;
- When volumes are too small, purchasing through rigorously selected traders, thereby optimizing transport and minimizing our carbon footprint.
