What are the properties of Lavender Aspic essential oil?
Lavender Aspic, otherwise known as Spike Lavender, essential oil is a must-have for your medicine cabinet over the summer season: it’s a real magician! Thanks to its soothing, antipruritic and extremely healing properties, it offers relief from stings (insects, jellyfish, plants etc), burns and superficial sunburn.
Its versatile anti-infectious properties (antibacterial, antiviral, antimycotic, antiparasitic), and its respiratory mucus-freeing abilities enable it to treat numerous infections and repel parasites such as mites and lice. You can use it to fight against ENT infections like otitis, sinusitis or bronchitis, as well as skin infections such as acne, herpes labialis, shingles, and eczema. Its analgesic, anti-inflammatory and muscle-relaxing effect will help to reduce pain associated with headaches, muscular cramps and rheumatism of the joints. Its tonic and nerve-balancing properties, are also of great help in the face of physical and nervous fatigue.

How to use Lavender Aspic essential oil?
Lavender Aspic can be used in its pure form locally, when applied directly on a small area of skin. For repeated application, over a larger area, on children over 7 years old or on sensitive skin, it should be diluted in vegetable oil. For use in the bath, use it diluted in a neutral base specifically formulated for the bath or shower, your shower gel, or in plant milk such as soya or almond.

Be careful, this essential oil is rich in linalool, which is a potential allergen. If you have existing allergies, you should always do a skin test before using.
To do this, pour 2 drops into the hollow of the elbow. Wait 12 hours, check for a reaction, and then repeat the test again.
In case of reaction such as sudden burning, reddening, stinging or itching of the skin, rinse the painful area with a neutral vegetable oil like Jojoba, Sunflower or Olive, and then with clean water.
This S.O.S. action dilutes the essential oil and immediately soothes the pain. If no vegetable oil is available, rinse thoroughly with clean water.
For who is Lavender Aspic contraindicated?
Lavender Aspic essential oil should not be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women as it contains eucalyptol and camphor, and may cause foetal convulsions. Do not use in children under 7 years of age or in people who are allergic to essential oils or to any of the components (geranial, geraniol, limonene, linalool, neral). The essential oil of Lavender Aspic is also not recommended for asthmatics without the advice of an allergist at the time of first use, those with epilepsy or a history of convulsive disorders, in the event of cardiac disorders (hypertension, arrhythmia...). Those with a chronic condition or currently undergoing medical treatment should consult a health specialist before use.
Can I replace Lavender Aspic with True Lavender?
Be careful, one essential oil cannot simply be replaced by another, even if their names are similar. While True Lavender and Lavender Aspic may have certain virtues and indications in common, they have others that are radically different, just like thymol thyme and linalool thyme, ravensare and ravintsara. For example, Lavender Aspic is used for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, whereas True Lavender is know for relaxing and healing.
The difference between these two species of lavender lies in their composition. Although they both contain linalool, Lavender Aspic contains eucalyptol (1.8 cineole) and camphor, whereas True Lavender contains almost none.
While their properties differ due to their composition, both are equally effective for skin problems, muscle contractions, the treatment of lice or to soothe and disinfect a wound. True Lavender is particularly useful for relaxing the body and mind, especially for relieving insomnia, anxiety, irritability, mood disorders and various stress-related symptoms. While Lavender Aspic is your ideal outdoor walking essential to relieve the inflammation and itching associated with insect bites and stings. Each variety of lavender also has its characteristic scent; True Lavender is best known and used as a milder choice.
How to use Lavender Aspic essential oil to treat nail or skin fungus
Its antifungal properties make this essential oil really helpful in the treatment of fungi and yeasts that cause mycosis. Used alongside other essential oils, Lavender Aspic is very effective in treating dermatophyte (fungi that need keratin for growth) infections of the nail and skin. However, it’s important not to use Lavender Aspic on a mucous membrane without consulting a health specialist first.
Advanced Mycosis with nail deformation |
Mix 10 drops of Clove essential oil with 40 drops of Lavender Aspic essential oil, 20 drops of Palmarosa essential oil and 30ml of Collodion. Apply to the nail with a small brush until healed.
File the diseased nail regularly to remove the previous layer of nail treatment and allow the active ingredients to penetrate well after each application, as the Collodion leaves a thin film on the nail. |
Skin Fungus |
Massage a mixture of 2 drops of Lavender Aspic essential oil with 2 drops of St. John's Wort vegetable oil directly into the painful area with your fingertips. Repeat as many times as necessary, until healed. |

Apply a mixture of 2 drops of Rose Geranium essential oil, 2 drops of Lavender Aspic essential oil and 3 drops of Macadamia vegetable oil to the infected area twice a day for 3 weeks. |
How to relieve itching naturally
Lavender Aspic essential oil is very effective against itching thanks to its antipruritic, anti-inflammatory, healing and regenerating properties. An antipruritic is a substance intended to calm or suppress an itch. In other words, it can soothe an itchy skin sensation. Itching can be caused by many things, including a sting or an insect bite, contact with a plant, a parasite (like lice), an irritation of the scalp, or a skin disease like eczema or psoriasis. The application of Lavender Aspic essential oil, either used pure or diluted with other oils, will calm the itching and soothe the skin. How to relieve superficial burns naturally
Superficial burns, generally of the 1st degree, are characterised by red, dry and painful skin, with no blisters or tears. It can cause slight itching which disappears in a few days. The soothing, healing, anti-inflammatory and antipruritic powers of Lavender Aspic make this essential oil your best ally in actively calming the pain and itching caused by minor burns.
Light Burns |
Dilute 10 drops of Lavender Aspic essential oil in a bottle of Rose Hip vegetable oil. For the face, use only 5 drops of essential oil per 30ml of vegetable oil. Avoid the eye area. |
Superficial burns |
Apply 3 to 6 drops of pure Lavender Aspic essential oil to the skin, 3 or 4 times a day, directly on the affected area. If the burn has just occurred, repeat the application every 15 seconds for 2 minutes, then every 15 minutes for 2 hours. In the case of a burn on a large area, dilute the drops of essential oil in the equivalent of vegetable oil, i.e. 5 drops of Lavender Aspic per 5 drops of St John's Wort vegetable oil. |
How to soothe the pain of a sunburn quickly?
As you know, the sun and our skin do not mix well. In fact, even if the sun activates melanin and gives your skin a beautiful tan, it can also cause damage. Exposure to the sun can accelerate skin ageing such as wrinkles and brown spots, cause allergies, burn the skin and, in the most serious cases, cause cancer. We can't stress enough that applying sun protection is essential.
However, once the damage is done, Lavender Aspic essential oil can come to the rescue! Its soothing and healing properties will allow you to calm your sunburn, reduce the heat and soreness. Pure application:
From the age of 15, you can apply 2 to 3 drops of pure Lavender Aspic essential oil directly onto the sunburn. However, if you have sensitive skin or if you wish to use it on a child aged 7 years or more, its important to dilute it as pure application can irritate the skin in acute cases. Mix the essential oil with an after-sun cream or Aloe Vera gel, and apply as you usually would.

Mix 20 drops of Lavender Aspic essential oil, 10 drops of Rosemary essential oil and 1 teaspoon of St. John's Wort vegetable oil in a 30ml opaque glass bottle. Add hemp vegetable oil.
Apply a few drops of the mixture to the damaged areas in the morning, noon and evening after showering and before bedtime, until the skin is completely healed. Do not expose the treated area of your skin to the sun after application. Keep the bottle away from sunlight and heat. |
After-sun Care |
Mix 10 drops of Lavender Aspic essential oil with 30ml of Apricot Kernel vegetable oil in a bottle. Massage this mixture into the face and body, avoiding the eye area. |
Heat Stroke - Insulation |
Put a few drops of pure Lavender Aspic essential oil on the forehead and layer a handkerchief or glove soaked in cold water over the top. |
How to soothe a toothache
The colloquial term "toothache" perfectly sums up the violence of this dental pain, caused by a deep cavity, damage to the dental nerve or an abscess in the gum. Lavender Aspic essential oil can temporarily relieve the pain, but it’s important to book a visit to the dentist urgently.
Mix 2 drops of Lavender Aspic essential oil with 2 drops of St. John's Wort vegetable oil. Massage into the painful area and nearby gums directly, using your fingertip . Repeat as many times as necessary.
How to relieve an ear infection with Lavender Aspic essential oil
Otitis can be a recurring problem which weakens the hearing system if it is not treated quickly. This is why it’s important to treat it at the first sign of pain. Lavender Aspic essential oil acts against inflammation and helps restore immunity within the ear. Its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties will help you treat the ear infection and reduce the risk of complications.
Apply 2 to 3 drops of pure Lavender Aspic essential oil around the ear (never inside the ear canal), 3 times a day.
